this is a chinese proverb that i learned from ruth on the way to Anatomy Lecture Hall for Histology class..
i just love it..
it means Engineers of Human Soul
Engineers of the human soul (Russian: Инженеры человеческих душ) (Chinese: 人类灵魂的工程师) was a term applied to writers and other cultural workers by Joseph Stalin.
The phrase was originally coined by Yury Olesha and then used by Joseph Stalin, first during his meeting with the Soviet writers in preparation for the first Congress of theUnion of Soviet Writers:
The production of souls is more important than the production of tanks.... And therefore I raise my glass to you, writers, the engineers of the human soul. (Joseph Stalin, Speech at home of Maxim Gorky, 26 October 1932)
It was taken up by Andrei Zhdanov and developed into the idea of 'Socialist realism'
This term is used extensively in the People's Republic of China to refer to the teaching profession.(courtesy of wikipedia..)
Russian said Engineers of human soul=writers..
Chinese said Engineers of human soul=teachers..
both equally right because those two professions help to nurture the human soul..
be a good mankind with humanity..
So,for engineers out there, be Engineers of human soul and not only Engineer for the sake of your profession..
I am thinking whether i could be an engineer too..
an Engineer of Human Soul..
or i just can be a Doctor of Human Soul..
ermm..it seems being an engineer is better because a doctor can only heals the broken soul while an engineer plays the important role in nurturing the soul..
*sigh*
but anyway, being a doctor is not half bad then..
or maybe it's more important because i could prevent the soul from dying..
nota kaki:
- makin lama aku tengok ejaan engineer, makin aku rasa pelik..terasa macam salah eja pulak..*juling+confius*
- being a doctor cum engineer, tak pelik ke? because those two seems to be totally differ from each other.. erm, Sahara desert and North Pole? *hiperbola*
- so, despite being an engineer, i could be a teacher or a writer so that i'm also an engineer..=D *dreaming*
- doctor engineer OR engineer doctor? *pening*
- *laughing* masa tengah google tadi terjumpa poll pasal "Would you rather marry a doctor or engineer?"
